Case Study: Process of creating the Momoboard
Step 1. The Creative Brief: Gathering the Essence
The process begins with a deep dive into what makes a creator’s brand unique. We don't just want logos; we want the "essence" of their community. We ask each talent to provide:
Moodboards: A visual "vibe check" featuring colors, textures, and aesthetic inspirations.
Brand Assets: Core elements like character art, signature color palettes, and typography.
The "Easter Eggs": Small, personal details—inside jokes or lore—that make the collection feel like a reward for their most dedicated fans.
Step 2. Concept Development: From Vision to Render
Once we have the assets, our design team will discuss the project extensively with Matara Kan to see exactly how she would want to bring her vision to life.
We created two distinct base color concepts to represent the different sides of her persona that showcased her "Good" and "Evil" models.
By presenting these high-fidelity renders, we allowed her to see how her ideas translated into the physical world—from the saturation of the legends to the specific finish of the keyboard chassis—ensuring the final product was exactly what she envisioned for her community.
New Concept
However, as we continued to refine the project, we transitioned to a new concept aimed at bringing together not only Matara Kan’s personality but also the deep love she has for her community. We shifted our focus to a design inspired by The Momos. This evolution led to unique “easter eggs”, such as the F-row keys, which were custom-designed and inspired by Momo’s antennas.

Step 3. The Artist’s Canvas: Custom Illustrations
For many of our collaborations, the keycaps themselves become a medium for high-level art. We worked with Matara Kan to see how she wanted to proceed with her custom keyboard design, and she proposed commissioning an artist to create custom artworks exclusively for this collection.
This included bespoke illustrations of herself with, of course, Momos! To make this as seamless as possible, we provide a keycap template that acts as a blueprint for the artist. This ensures the art wraps perfectly around the physical curves of the keys. Throughout the process, each design was created and refined specifically to Matara Kan's liking, ensuring every detail was something her community would love.

Step 4. Finalizing the Blueprint
After the custom illustrations are integrated, we enter the final review. For this project, we finally arrived at a final render that truly satisfied Matara for this collection.
Working tirelessly, this collaboration brought out the love Matara Kan has for her community into an exclusive collectible that is right at your fingertips. We perform a final check for technical alignment and color accuracy to ensure that the physical product matches the digital dream. Once the "green light" is given, we move from the digital world into the physical one.

Step 5: The Prototype and Sampling Process
Once the digital renders are approved, we move into the physical prototyping phase. This is the most critical stage of production, where we translate digital pixels into physical plastic. We begin with an intensive color-matching process. Because colors can shift between a backlit monitor and a physical surface, we work closely with the factory to produce multiple plastic swatches. We compare these physical samples against our original brand references to ensure that the momoboard remains vibrant and accurate in all lighting conditions.

After the base colors are locked in, we shift our focus to the legends and icons. We scrutinize the alignment of every single keycap to ensure that the text and custom illustrations are perfectly centered and consistent across the entire board.
We want to ensure that the artwork is sized correctly from our render.
Step 6: Final Technical Review
The final stage of the sampling process is a comprehensive quality check of the entire physical prototype. We verify that the technical templates provided to the artist have translated perfectly on the keycaps and that the visual flow of the set is seamless.
Only after the physical sample matches the "final render" that satisfied Matara Kan do we move into full-scale production and pre-orders.
This rigorous sampling ensures that the exclusive collectible arriving at your fingertips is exactly the premium product we envisioned together.

Our collaborative process is built on the belief that custom hardware should be a true reflection of the bond between a creator and their community. By combining deep creative discussions, bespoke artist canvases, and a rigorous physical sampling phase, we ensure that every collection is more than just a product, t is a piece of community history brought to life.
